Buachaile Etive Beag:
Stob Coire Raineach - 925m
Stob Dubh - 958m

Friday 15th January 2016

Weather/Conditions: More deep snow and sun. Not as wild as the previous day!
Distance/Ascent/Time: 7.9km / 920m / 3h
Accompanying: Alone

En route home from Kinlochleven, and I went for a stomp around a familiar mountain; Buachaille Etive Beag. The hills were absolutely loaded with snow, so I was for picking safe route choices. Access to the ridge was quick, followed by ridges.

I was around the full circuit in three hours dead, and I felt pretty quick given the depth of snow. If anything I didn't feel like it slowed me down too much: certainly, a comparable summer pace for this route would be just 40 minutes less. Some light mist shrouded the summit of Stob Dubh, only for a moment, then I jogged down snow into the Lairig Eilde - I overshot the path, scared some deer and then back down to the car park.
