What a day this was. The entire trip to Torridon was unbelieveable in every way, and I got a lot done as well. It just fueled the fires that got going in spring 2015; it would turn out to be an awesome and productive hillwalking year.

Garbh Bheinn lies on the south bank of Loch Leven, a steep hill sandwiched between the Aonach Eagach and Glen Coe. It wouldn't take me long, and was perfect for breaking up the drive north.



The weather was just phenomenal, you really couldn't get any better: blue skies, light winds and the incredible strong and clear light of spring time. An t-Earrach sure feels good in the Highlands.

Leaving the car at the roadside by Caolasnacon, I just charged up the hill. Some days I am just on it, perhaps. These rapid altitude gains feel hard when you are in their midst, but I usually find they are made up for by the descent which invariably feel really easy.



From the top of the hill, I had a magnificent panorama of brown and grey mountains, capped in snow and all beneath a massive blue sky. It was just amazing, and it was only the start of the day, too. I still had a lot of driving to do, and another hill along the way, too...

I headed down the way I came (10.10am), from summit to the road in 43 minutes. It felt absolutely bloody brilliant. What a kick.
