A day up Dumgoyne that I never wrote anything about at the time. A warm golden day, as I remembered. It was a hot day and my time to the top wasn't so quick either. It was a 'dozy' day, where I wasn't bothered about doing anything - chilled out. The hills were covered in a strange smog that persisted only below 3000 feet or so, the air was so clear above. But for me it blotted out any far-ranging views to the hills. It was also a day that in spite of my weekend plans to travel south, I felt a profound feeling of not wanting to leave Scotland. For all my activities with the bands at this point, I'd sometimes have this unshakeable, deep sense of belonging to the hills. My time ploughing the cities of the south was a wrench away from that that I loved. It was felt never more acutely than on this day.
