Dunglas - 153m
Tuesday 15th May 2012

Weather/Conditions: Sunny day.
Distance/Ascent/Time: 4.8km / 100m / c.1h
Accompanying: Dad

A day out on Dunglas with dad. This happened a few years ago with a complete lack of details as a consequence. It was however a bit of a spur of the moment decision - enough for me to grab a camera and climbing guidebook and go.

I spent most of my time walking around Dunglas, squaring up the routes with the guidebook. As a crag it's not particularly popular, except the leaning west face which attracts the sport climbers - me included. It's a great place on a sunny evening, but the trad routes are more like loose, unprotected horror. In fact, the more you look at this place through the eyes of a rock climber, the more horrific it appears. Most stunning of all are the upper overhangs, and fact they've been climbed - albeit once - is all the more impressive.
