The list below shows the mountains I have climbed, sorted by date. Click
on the mountain names (brown link) to see a report including text, images and route maps. An asterisk means I attempted, but did not reach the summit. The numbers left of the peak names are the summit's height in metres. On the right the date is displayed, with statistics (distance in kilometres, height gain in metres and time taken in hours and minutes) as well as comments on the day. |

Meall na Aighean Carn Mairg Meall a' Bharr Meall Garbh Carn Gorm | 2012 January 29 | 18.6km / 1380m / ?h | With Dougie and Struan - did my last Munros of SMC Region 2 - everything from Orchy to Tay! The walk wasn't so exciting. We had snow about 500m and cloud above 600m, so a lot of compass bearings took us slowly from top to top. It was a big confidence boost to navigation. A drink and chips at Fortingall and then a long drive home via. Lix Toll and Callander after getting Sunday night fuel at Aberfeldy! |
| 427 | Dumgoyne | 2012 January 26 | 3.8km / 400m / ?h | Short morning out with Tom. Snow falling, wind blowing, a lot of fun. |
| 1024 | Sgorr Dhearg (Beinn a' Bheithir) * | 2012 January 21 | 10.2km / 900m / ?h | Beaten back 300m form the top, crawling. The most intense winds I've seen. |
|

Cairn Gorm Stob Coire an t-Sneachda Ben Macdui | 2012 January 14 | 18.7km / 1070m / 7h 05m | An amazing day (again) But genuinely one of the best. Sparking white, alpine mountains, cloud below 3000 feet and a golden winter sunset. With Andrew (on his first winter walk!) trudging over the stunning Cairngorm plateau. |

Beinn na Lap Chno Dearg Stob Coire Sgriodain |
2011 December 27 | 20.2km / 1230m / ?h | With some guys from the club - last of the year. Started out late and went up Beinn na Lap under threatening skies. Weather and darkness closed in on Chno Dearg. Careful navigation got us to Sgriodain and hard graft got us to Tulloch! |
| 1076 | Beinn Dorain | 2011 December 22 | 9.9km / 900m / ?h | Wet, windy day with Mackenzie, on his first visit to Scottish hills from Wales. |
|

A' Bhuidheanach Bheag Carn na Caim |
2011 December 17 | 17.7km / 850m / ?h | With Struan and James S., Snow and cloud (whiteout, nearly!) on the plateau. Tougher than expected, but navigation confidence got a huge boost. |
| 841 | Ben Vrackie | 2011 December 10 | 11.6km / 850m / ?h | Stunning clear weather - went on my own from Pitlochry, staying with Dave |

Ben Vorlich Stuc a' Chroin |
2011 November 13 | 14.5km / 1400m / 4h 15m | An alone, on-the-whim trip to two Munros close to home. Lots of mist, but breaking through above the cloud on Vorlich, 50m below the summit! Amazing! |
| 427 | Dumgoyne | 2011 November 7 | 3.6km / 400m / ?h | A quick up and down after the Lawers hills. Immense inversion and twilight. |

Meall a' Choire Leith Meall Corranaich Beinn Ghlas Ben Lawers Creag an Fhithich An Stuc Meall Garbh Meall Greigh |
2011 November 7 | 20km / 1700m / ?h | An incredible day on the Lawers Range! I started at Lochan na Lairige and got over the mountains with surprising speed. The weather was warm, calm and settled. All the mountains were on show - there aren't many days like this. At first I wasn't sure how I'd get back to the car, but when the morning went so well, I decided to finish the group and take my chances on getting a lift back. And this happened - I got back to the car and drove home, but not before Dumgoyne. |
| 948 | Beinn Bhuidhe | 2011 November 5 | 21km / 950m / 3h 55m | Fyne's Beinn Bhuidhe - finally climbed! Went alone, good weather, a great day |
| 917 | Tryfan | 2011 October 23 | 3.1km / 600m / 4h | Immense climb up Tryfan's North Ridge. Climbing straight up 2000 feet. Wow! |

Crib Goch Crib y Ddysgl Snowdon Y Lliwedd |
2011 October 22 | 11.7km / 1100m / ?h | In Wales - for the first time, ever - for a Walk Highlands meet with Mackenzie and all the rest. Did the Snowdon Horseshoe in good weather and high winds which turned out to include perhaps the most scrambling I've ever done. |
| 884 | The Cobbler | 2011 October 20 | 10km / 900m / 5h 10m | First snow on the Cobbler. Climbed pinnacle solo, roped, in bad conditions! |
| 427 | Dumgoyne | 2011 October 7 | 3.6km / 400m / 50m | Looking for the first winter snows from Dumgoyne - Stob Binnein had snow! |

2011 October 2 | 17.1km / 1300m / ?h | The final day in Glen Carron/Torridon. Woke to low cloud which cleared to magnificent blue skies at the car park. Amazing weather all day. I saw the Triple Buttress for the first time and the second Munro was my #150. Incredible. |

2011 October 1 | 9.5km / 1450m / 6h 15m | A classic Scottish mountain. We'd hoped for better weather than light mist, but the rock was dry and the scrambling fun. Struan and I leaped over the pinnacles past the bottle necks of walkers. A lot of fun and an amazing mountain. Rain came in at the end of the day but couldn't stifle the joy of having done Liathach. One of the best mountains. |

2011 September 30 | 14.6km / 1050m / 6h 10m | A wild first day with Bealach M. C. - staying at the Inver Croft hut in Glen Caron. We climbed this Munro from the glen. Planned Sgorr Ruadh too, then the weather came in rough and wild. We surrendered like drenched rats. |

2011 September 24 | 13.8km / 900m / 5h 35m | The Tarmachan Ridge with Graham, Kaeryn and Craig. I did half the ridge in February but did the lot today! The whole thing would be great fun in thick winter conditions - as for today, it was sunny with a bit of rain and good views to surrounding hills and moors. |
| 427 | Dumgoyne | 2011 September 2 | 8.3km / 400m / 2h 30m | Going alone to do some filming. Not inspiring weather, and beat the rain back |

2011 August 21 | 18km / 1000m / 8h 15m | Dougie and myself went over these two Fannaichs. Started late so we missed the other 3. Weather was much better than forecast. They are great mountains, though they didn't quite match An Teallach! Counted 120 deer in the corrie. |

2011 August 20 | 15km / 1450m / 7h 50m | Incredible day with Bealach M. C. - what a mountain! Like nothing else I've seen. Dougie, Craig, Tommy and I did this in high winds and periodic rain. We went anti-clockwise around Toll an Lochain, bypassing the main tower then onto the pinnacled Tops. An awe-inspiring mountain, one of the best. We walked over the Munros in thickening clag back to the Smiddy - a cracking club hut. The exposure can be mind bending - a big-mountain experience. |

The Cobbler The Cobbler North Peak |
2011 August 17 | 10.5km / 950m / 5h 45m | With Sam and co. on a day with fairly nice weather. Did the pinnacle and the North Peak - next summers plans coming together! |
| 427 | Dumgoyne | 2011 August 16 | 3.4km / 400m / 1h 15m | Dumgoyne - again! 25th time, alone and at night. Glengoyne parking sucks! |
| 427 | Dumgoyne | 2011 August 8 | 8.3km / 400m / 1h 55m | Went up Dumgoyne alone. First hill I drove to - thank you driving licence :-) |

2011 August 6 | 21.8km / 1350m / 7h 25m | Warm, still day with Michael, Pete and Bill. A long day trip, but on such a spectacular mountain. Midges on the summit, although the view south was mind blowing. Could see West Coast ridges Stob Binnein to the Fannaichs - wow! |

2011 July 30 | 26.5km / 2700m / 13h 10m | An immense day in Glen Shiel! Back with the mountaineering club after what feels so long away. Could see for miles in every direction, all of Affric, Knoydart and Skye. Walked over the Brothers and Five Sisters of Kintail in a mammoth day starting at the front door of the Cluanie Inn and ending at the bar of the Kintail Lodge Hotel. I was fascinated to climb and see Ciste Dhubh having done it once before on an extreme winter night with Michael. The ridges were quiet for a Saturday, but the Sisters were beautiful and the final descent harsh. Back at the hotel just in time for fish and chips. |
| 427 | Dumgoyne | 2011 July 23 | 2.8km / 350m / 1h 50m | Up for sunset with Steve and Pete. Chatting to the Gibsons! A good night |
|

The Cobbler The Cobbler North Peak |
2011 July 23 | 17.6km / 1000m / 6h 25m | Brilliant weather on the Cobbler. Went alone, took train up. Threaded the needle, tried the South Peak, and home for 4pm. |
| 35 | Dunagoil | 2011 July 8 | 1.7km / 70m / 1h 05m | Last day of the holiday, nice way to round off, one this small ancient fort. |
|
179 59 109 104 |
Sight Hill Castle Cree Quien Hill Hill of Ascog |
2011 July 7 | 29.2km / 460m / 4h 35m | This day was very much about picking up the dregs and finishing off Bute's 30m Tops. Sight Hill was difficult, Castle Cree very nice, Quien Hill a sting in the tail and Hill of Ascog one for the tick. Left one last Top for the end of the holiday - a nice one too. |
| 147 | Creag na Buidsich | 2011 July 6 | 7.4km / 170m / 1h 20m | So I found time for one more - great sea and sunset views. |

Torran Turach Badlia Hill Muclich Hill Black Hill Torran Turach Corval Hill Barlia Hill |
2011 July 6 | 35.7km / 650m / 5h 35m | The walk the broke the camels back. ;) Finally did the northern summits on a humid day with rain threatening throughout. The Kyles of Bute and Tighnabruaich are lovely but the heather and bracken, non-stop all day was painful! Note: don't wear shorts next time. Very painful, legs cut to pieces. Very tired on the cycle out too, but got back to Port Bannatyne for a curry - made me feel a whole lot better! Time for one more, I think... |
|
123 74 149 |
Suidhe Bhlain Barr Buidhe Torr Mor |
2011 July 5 | 4.3km / 300m / 1h 10m | Maybe the nicest part of Bute (depending on taste) - the far south. Great sea views to Arran and other lands from these small tops that are right on the edge of the sea. Well worth it - although hard going in the thick vegetation. |
| 123 | Birgidale Hill | 2011 July 4 | 16.4km / 200m / 1h 30m | And another to finish the day off - cycled almost to the top. Saw an eagle. |
|

Barone Hill Kerryfearn Hill Barmore Hill Blackpark Hill |
2011 July 4 | 15.0km / 300m / 2h 35m | The hills above Loch Fad are some of Bute's nicest - Barone Hill especially. I enjoyed these, although the long heather and grass wore thin later on. Good evening views across the centre of Bute. |
| 132 | Common Hill | 2011 July 3 | 1km / 20m / 9m | One final one for the peak-bagging... Hardly a hill - it's behind the golf course! |
| 157 | Suidhe Chatain | 2011 July 3 | 1.3km / 150m / 30m | Great evening walk from Kilchattan. Cool hill, great views! |

Kilbride Hill The Lyeing Hill Cnocanallt Windy Hill Kames Hill Muirton Hill |
2011 July 3 | 17.8km / 480m / 3h 10m | Climbing all the 30m prominence tops of Bute! A fun trip, on holiday for a week. Bute has little (none!) in the way of mountains, so I located the summits and went ticked them off, Munro bagging-style. I started with Windy Hill and co., some of the first hills I ever did, back in 2000. A beautiful day on these rolling hills. |

2011 June 28 | 23.3km / 1500m / 12h 10m | Day 4: The last day and a surprisingly tough one. Cloud on Aonach Beag gave way to increasing sunny skies. Aonach Mor was a nice (rucksack-less) walk and the descent from the Aonachs was much easier than expected. Walked up CMD feeling elated, then Nevis burst into view. Wow - what a place. A walk around the arete brought us to Ben Nevis summit and a walk completed. It wasn't over yet - the dash to the train station is yet another story! |

2011 June 27 | 13.4km / 1500m / 9h 10m | Day 3: Following the tough Mamores day, we had an easier time going across the Grey Corries. A 12 o'clock start ensured we didn't traverse the Aonachs before bed (a wise choice) and a fun day slid by into a superb high level camp below Aonach Beag. Got to bed early, ready for the end. |

2011 June 26 | 20km / 1700m / 13h 10m | Day 2: A big day. Statistically not the biggest I've done but with the problem of heavy packs on the route. The Devil's Ridge was a lot of fun, the weather on the Ring of Steall was okay. Na Gruagaichean was a very hard climb in wind and rain, leaving us completely tired on the way to Binnein Mor. We needed a lot of patience to see the Munros through. To complete the wider glen traverse, we needed to get to Meanach bothy for nightfall (miles away). We left out Binnein Beag, the logical outlier. Hellish climb over Sgurr Eilde Mor then descent to Glen Nevis in the gloom. It looked like Mordor - such an empty place. The river was almost too deep to cross (Mick and Mackenzie's epic came to mind!) but we got across in thigh-deep waters and settled in for a nice night with chicken curry but no fire! |

2011 June 25 | 17.9km / 1300m / 5h 05m | Day 1 of Glen Nevis trip. Train up, cycled down Glen Nevis, and an early start on the Mamores before the big day. Cloudy on the Mullach, which then cleared on Stob Ban to a stunning twilight scene across Nevis and co. Awesome! Camped below the Devil's Ridge |
| 427 | Dumgoyne | 2011 June 16 | 44.5km / 800m / 3h 45m | Cycling WHW, plus a hill. Planned Conic Hill too, then Steve had a car crash... |

2011 May 29 | 12km / 700m / 5h 30m | Pt. 2 of the day - Ben Venue, which turned into a longer walk than expected. Weather changing all the time, great views. McD's at end! With Sandy and Tom. |

| 933 | Fionn Bheinn | 2011 May 1 | 8.9km / 800m / 3h 10m | A wind-down walk with Colin before home. Nice hill, superb views. |

2011 April 30 | 20km / 1950m / 9h | The penultimate day across Torridonian giants with Colin, Faye, Jim and Gerry. Beautiful weather with wind to keep us cool, scrambling to keep it fun and huge views across Torridon and the ocean. It was spectacular, the Horns of Alligin especially so! The south side of Liathach had been set on fire during the day, creating incredible scenery. A magnificent first time in Torridon. |
| 933 | Maol Chean-dearg | 2011 April 29 | 8.7km / 750m / 2h 55m | A quick evening run up this Munro above Coulags bothy. Amazing landscape! |

2011 April 10 | 4.0km / 300m / 3h 25m | Still tired from the Grey Corries, Dougie and I went up Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh in warm weather. A great, spring day, everyone out in the sun. |

2011 April 9 | 27.7km / 2000m / 10h 40m | Incredible day on the Grey Corries ridge with Dougie and James. I took the train up in the morning, arrived at the Spean Valley in the sun and peace and quiet. We met up and went for breakfast at Spean Bridge. The weather was sunny and warm and we ended up with tans or burn, although a wind generally kept us cool. Even with most of the snow gone, the ridge was beautiful and a lot of fun to walk. A classic, with bigger mileage than I'd anticipated! |

2011 April 7 | 27.7km / 1500m / 8h 45m | A brilliant spring day with Colin and Faye. Hail showers blew themselves out and we did most of the route beneath sunny skies. Views were enormous in all directions to many mountains, most spectacularly the main Cairngorm range which still holds a lot of snow. We had very little by comparison and the axe was left in the car. Loch nan Eun and the walk-out down Gleann Taitneach (classic U-shape valley) were beautiful places for the end of a very fulfilling day. |

Nothing else like it! |

2009 October 10 | 26.6km / 1900m / 9h 35m | The South Glen Shiel ridge east to west. With Michael. A 4.30am alarm got us walking for six, and we had all kinds of conditions during the walk. The last summits were definitely harder and a front had moved in by the time we were on the last Munro, bringing high winds and heavy rain. But a ridge walk to do again - the mountains are beautiful in this area. The waterfall in Am Fraoch-choire is incredible! Well worth descending alongside even if the guidebooks don't say it. To round off a great day, we got a lift back up Glen Shiel from a walker who we'd met on the ridge. Fantastic. |
