An Cabar Glas Leathad Mor (Ben Wyvis) |
2010 July 25 | 13.5km / 920m / 4h 20m | A very wet day with Michael Kerrigan, Pete and Dorota. Minimal views, mist and wind, which is a bit of a shame since it's probably a great hill. |
| 251 | Maodal | 2010 July 22 | 2km / 250m / c. 1h 30m | Up with Steve for the geocaching. But sunset was among the best I've had |
| 729 697 491 |
Uisgneabhal Mor Teileasbhal Sron Scourst |
2010 July 22 | 12km / 950m / c. 5h | Justifiably ranks among the best days so far. Good weather on Harris is hard to come by, but when it does it's nothing short of spectacular. These summits aren't high in altitude by come as nothing short than true mountains. |

The Devil's Point Stob Coire an t-Saighdeir Cairn Toul Sgor an Lochain Uaine Monadh Mor Beinn Bhrotain |
2010 July 6 | 43km / 1550m / 12h 55m | Amazing day out with Pete Swales. Weather was between cloudy/sunny/raining with a fair dose of wind, but the actual day was fantastic. Great to be in the high mountains after a lot of flat long distance walks in June, and the first time I've used a bike for the approach. Great fun and nice to mix things up a bit. Incredible Cairngorm peaks all around too. Will need to come back for some more of the giants - MacDui, Braeriach, etc... |
| 496 | Slackdhu | 2010 June 29 | 6km / 400m / 2h 22m | Nice weather, great views. Went alone, having fun with exposure on the cliffs |
| 361 460 586 597 |
Conic Hill Gualann Binnein nan Gobhar Beinn Uird |
2010 June 18 | 22.7km / 1150m / ?h | Did the Drymen - Rowardennan stretch of the West Highland Way over the tops, and climbed some hills I'd wanted to do for a while, attracted by their obscure nature. A tough day with long stretches of moor, but not bad anyway. The camping at Rowardennan however was superb! |
| 156 | Dumgoyach | 2010 June 17 | 25.5km / 300m / ?h | Attached to the West Highland Way. Nice forest on this hill, but limited views |
| 725 628 569 507 |
Lowther Hill Cold Moss Hods Hill Beld Knowe |
2010 June 7 | 39km / 1500m / ?h | On the Southern Upland Way. We went through the Lead Hills first from Sanquhar, then up onto Lowther Hill then down the other side. Sunny until this point, then it rained hard. The last two tops were a more miserable and knackering before arriving in Brattleburn Bothy. |
| 421 580 |
Manquhill Hill Benbrack |
2010 June 6 | 32.1km / 800m / ?h | On the Southern Upland Way. Benbrack's Striding Arch is inspiring and brightened up the otherwise dull weather. |
| 320 184 |
Craig Airie Fell Hill of Ochiltree |
2010 June 4 | 40.4km / 830m / ?h | On the Southern Upland Way. Sunny and hazy all day - the space on top of Craig Airie Fell was a welcome break after miles of closed in forestry. |

2010 May 25 | 8.5km / 1250m / 12h 20m | Stunning day above Glen Coe. Great weather, dry rock, crazy scrambling and big exposure. Climbed following a cold camp in Glen Etive, then headed up in the morning and spend all day on the ridge in good weather. Got a taxi back up Glen Coe. |

Stob a' Ghlais Choire Creise Clach Leathad Meall a' Bhuiridh |
2010 May 15 | 12.8km / 1200m / 6h | Climbed with Colin while staying at the Blackrock Cottage. Went up Sron na Creise, a superbly exposed scramble - would do it again. All Slackdhu scrambling experience went towards this one. Blasted by hail on Creise and Clach Leathad then had the long walk down Meall a' Bhuiridh. |
| 945 1090 |
Stob a' Choire Odhair Stob Gabhar |
2010 May 14 | 16.2km / 1200m / 6h 30m | Recording from virus, but was fine. Weather: changeable with sun then showers. Blasted by heavy snow on Gabhar's Aonach Eagach. Awesome. |
| 427 | Dumgoyne | 2010 May 9 | 3.7km / 400m / 2h 35m | Up Dumgoyne in time for sunset with Ian. Nice to be out again. |

2010 April 24 | 28.2km / 1300m / 8h 05m | Into new mountain regions with Bealach MC. Went up the summits alone but met the others on Munro #3. Hazy weather although no rain and even some sun. |

2010 April 11 | 31km / 2700m / 12h | Great solo trip over the five Bridge of Orchy Munros in sunny weather, sunburn included. I took the train up Friday evening, stayed in the Orchy Hotel bunkhouse then headed off at 5.30am. With 31kms being the longest single solo trip I've done, I'm not sure where the energy and persistence came from, but it was a great day and these are were the most ideal conditions I could have asked for. To climb the five Bridge of Orchy Munros in a day is a small dream of mine fulfilled. |
| 496 | Slackdhu | 2010 April 7 | 6.8km / 500m / 3h 10m | Sunny, spring day on the Slackdhu crags alone. Pure bliss, all day. |
| 251 | Arthur's Seat | 2010 April 5 | 3.4km / 250m / c. 1h 30m | Unexpected but huge fun, with Mackenzie. Very windy! |
| 427 | Dumgoyne | 2010 April 2 | 8.1km / 400m / 3h 45m | Night walk after rock climbing. Cold and windy. Snow on the Campsies. |

2010 March 20 | 16.3km / 950m / 6h 10m | Out above the Drumochter Pass with Pete and Kev McK. I did two new Munros, having already climbed A' Mharconaich in June. Occasional showers, *lots* of sun, and a great time! Brilliant, brilliant day. |
| 538 | Creag Choinnich | 2010 March 13 | 2.4km / 200m / 36m | Quick run up from Braemar. Beautiful day and stunning forests. |
| 818 | Carn na Drochaide | 2010 March 13 | 20.6km / 550m / 7h | Planned Ben Avon, but changed plans. Good views, nice Corbett |

2010 March 6 | 12.8km / 1300m / 10h 20m | Great weather, climbing with Samantha Munro and Michael Kerrigan. Followed the west ridge to the summit - more like a series of bumps than a ridge. The up's and downs were exhausting but I gained myself three much-wanted Tops, and managed the summit after 7.5 hours! The spring warmth, great weather, great views and company made it all worth it. |

2010 February 27 |
16.2km / 750m / 7h 10m |
A wintry day on the Pentlands. This was my first time here and we had our fair share of snow, wind and cloud. Very little precipitation however. These relatively small hills felt far bigger in the latter reaches of the walk, in part due to tiredness but since the glen had a strikingly Highland feel. Felt very remote for hills so close to the city and they were very reminiscent of the Cairngorms. |
| 496 | Slackdhu | 2010 February 19 | 4.8km / 400m / 1h 55m | Cracking weather, remembering Mick + confirming I still love this place |
| 917 921 937 959 |
Meall a' Churain Sgiath Chuil Beinn Cheathaich Meall Glas |
2010 February 13 | 16.8 km / 1250m / 8h 40m |
I did these hills in Oct '09, but repeating wasn't a bother even though the hills are quite undistinguished. Snow on the ground and nice weather (sunset and no wind on Meall Glas) made for a great day out. Went with Bealach MC. Good views to the Crianlarich Hills and Ben Lui. |
| 570 | Meikle Bin | 2010 January 31 | 10.8 km / 530m / 4h | Walking in the wee hours, lit by the Moon and by city lights |
| 998 1025 |

2010 January 28 | 11.9 km / 950m / 6h 35m | With Mackenzie and Samantha. Weather or mountain wasn't so good, the company was awesome. Almost whiteout on top. |
| 1115 892 |
Stob Coire nan Lochain Aonach Dubh |
2010 January 23 | 8.1 km / 1070m / 7h 40m | Spectacular day above Glen Coe. With beautiful weather and sharp, exposed ridges this place just blew my mind. |
| 1068 | Glas Maol | 2010 January 17 | 6.3 km / 450m / 3h 40m | Nice winter day above Glen Shee. Superb weather, then whiteout.. |
| 427 543 578 | Dumgoyne Garloch Hill Earl's Seat |
2010 January 10 | 10.3 km / 750m / 5h 40m | First peaks of the year! A beautiful sunny day in the Campsies and my first time on Earl's Seat in months. Triggered a small avalanche on the descent which got the adrenaline fair pumping. |

2009 October 17 | 25.4km / 2080m / 16h 35m |
Night walk first on Meall Ghaordaidh. Pitch dark, stars, meteors all the way, summiting at 1.20am. Descended, then moved onto Meall Glas and Sgiath Chuil, walking through sunrise and subsequent morning. The day brought clear skies, great visibility, inversions in the valleys - signs of winter. Nothing else like it! |

2009 October 10 | 26.6km / 1900m / 9h 35m | The South Glen Shiel ridge east to west. With Michael. A 4.30am alarm got us walking for six, and we had all kinds of conditions during the walk. The last summits were definitely harder and a front had moved in by the time we were on the last Munro, bringing high winds and heavy rain. But a ridge walk to do again - the mountains are beautiful in this area. The waterfall in Am Fraoch-choire is incredible! Well worth descending alongside even if the guidebooks don't say it. To round off a great day, we got a lift back up Glen Shiel from a walker who we'd met on the ridge. Fantastic. |

2009 June 4 | 24.4km / 2300m / 9h | Around four Crianlarich Munros underneath sunshine with great views all around. The route was similar to one I had done in September '08, with some noticeable differences this time. Took it (slightly...) slower and packed lighter than before, leaving me with a lot more strength by the latter reaches of the walk. Also got panoramas from all four summits. In a bid to catch the train, the end of the walk saw me battling through dense pine forests, an interesting end to the walk. |

2009 April 8 | 12km / 1050m / 5h 20m | A solo trip over the Luss Hills, beginning in Glen Douglas and ending in Tarbet. Views were excellent, especially from Tullich Hill, but showers distorted any views from Ben Reoch. Didn't see anyone else all day, just like it always is around Luss... | |

Creag an Fheadain Sron Chona Choirein Stuchd an Lochain Meall an Odhar Sron a' Choire Chnapanich Meall Buidhe West Top Meall Buidhe |
2009 March 28 | 22km / 1500m / 9h 15m | A big day around Loch an Diamh. Went with U.A.M. as far as Stuchd an Lochain before Dave and I continued onwards alone, confident we could do a circular route around the loch before darkness. A cold wind on Stuchd gave way to lighter winds beyond, and Meall Buidhe was climbed with a sunset to our backs. Got back just as dark fell, 9 hours after we began. Perhaps I started my long distance routes without realising? |

2009 March 21 | 14km / 1100m / 6h 10m | My original plan was to start long distance routes for the year and do the 5 west Crianlarich Munros, but the weather had other plans. Otherwise it was a nice day, inc. a new Munro Top |
| 496 | Slackdhu | 2009 March 4 | 7km / 450m / 4h 55m | With Tom, a mix of sun and whiteout and a spectacular sunset. |

2009 February 28 | 10km / 1000m / 4h 20m | Two new Munros with U.A.M. Aonach Beag especially felt wild to my mind with whiteout and cornicing. Rough weather too... |
| 415 | Cruach Tairbeirt | 2009 January 31 | 7km / 500m / 6h | Finally climbed this one. Beautiful views from the summit. |

2008 September 7 | 19 km / 2200m / 8h | A stonker of a trip - tired like I never have been before in the mountains! Did the "brutal" ascent of Ben More first plus the added bonus of climbing Beinn Tulaichean, one of the first mountains I climbed. Ben More and Stob Binnein are ranked (height) #16 and #18 in the UK. A pretty special day for me, taking eight hours. Shattered! |
